When my kid was a toddler and had to get tested for TB, I was shocked. I always thought that tuberculosis was something in our past that wasn't anything to worry about today. After all, the most I've seen it mentioned are in fictional turn of the century TV shows and books.
TB turns out to be more deadly than malaria and HIV combined, which is an incredibly sobering thought. According to RESULTS, TB is responsible for 1.5 million deaths annually as well as being the cause of poverty for many of the families affected as they struggle to cope with the disease's impact on their families.
