Did you know that you can tell about a woman's orgasms by the way she walks? Or that a woman's brain shuts off during during orgams? Or that there is actually a "raging" controversy about whether the female orgasm was for evolutionary reasons or by accident?
Despite the fact that i'm a woman, I realized that until I did a little research into the female orgasm myself that I knew very little about the female orgasm beyond personal experience as a woman.
One study I read about contends that you can look at a woman's walk and not only know if she has a sexy walk, you can know what kind of orgasm she has. According to the study:
"The sum of stride length and vertebral rotation was greater for the vaginally orgasmic women."
There are a couple of explanations for this according to the article I read:
1. Somehow, in some way that I don't quite understand, blocked pelvic muscles could actually affect the gait of the woman. This sounds a little far-fetched to me, but since I know absolutely nothing about what affects my own personal gait (not to mention my own personal orgasms), I guess I'll have to leave it to the experts to prove or disprove.
2. The confidence that the woman gets from having had vaginal orgasms actually shows up in their stride. Now, I've heard of men with large penises getting a certain swagger to their step, but I had no idea that it could possibly extend to women, too. I mean, I understand a glow right after the fact and a rather telling smile, but come on, how long would that really last for?
Another study taught me something that I've long suspected: the brain pretty much shuts itself off during a female's orgasm. Ironically, the part of a woman's brain responsible for emotions shuts off as well, leaving me to wonder why so many girls feel attached to casual sexual partners. (thinking maybe it's more socialization than evolutionary)
The article explains the need for procreation as the evolutionary reason and compares humans to rabbits in this way, which is good, because now I have a better mental picture of where the phrase "fucking like bunnies" comes from.
Of course, as I read on and searched out different studies, I became more confused. (why the scientific world just can't all agree on any one simple thing is way beyond my English major mind's comprehension ability.)
It turns out that one woman wrote an entire book about the female orgasm is kind of just an accident- there was no evolutionary design, but just the fact that men and women are similar: "females get the nerve pathways for orgasm by initially having the same body plan." WTF? So basically, she believes (and surprisingly it was definitely a she who wrote the book) I have orgasms because my clitoris is like a small penis? I don't know the science enough to form an opinion on this, but I am wondering what the feminist reaction to this article was.
The writer's main point was that men need to ejaculate in order to procreate, but this is not necessary at all for women. Granted, this may be technically true, but it definitely does not sound nice from a woman's perspective.
